Trauma & Affective Psychophysiology Lab

Trauma & Affective Psychophysiology Lab

About The Lab

The Trauma & Affective Psychophysiology Lab studies how chronic and interpersonal trauma reshape emotional, cognitive, and physiological systems. We approach trauma as both embodied and relational, integrating psychophysiology, experimental methods, and quantitative inquiry to understand how adaptations to adversity unfold across the body and mind.

Our work bridges laboratory research with community and clinical contexts, advancing trauma-informed science that is rigorous, ethically grounded, and responsive to real-world needs. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and global partnerships, we aim to build research infrastructures that strengthen both scientific knowledge and public impact.

Trauma.

We examine how chronic and interpersonal trauma shape development, relational systems, and long-term mental health outcomes across diverse contexts.

Affective Science.

We study emotion regulation, shame, dissociation, and attention as core processes through which trauma reorganizes experience.

Psychophysiology.

Using biological and behavioral measurement, we investigate how trauma alters nervous system functioning and embodied stress responses.
